This is great timing for this activity as during our holiday away at Le Bons, we saw some Fisheries Officers and you wanted to know what they did for a job. So we have had a good discussion about the reason for their job and why having limits on the amount of fish is necessary for the future. 'Fish for the Future!' is a good slogan to live by. We are lucky enough to have people in our family who do catch fish, including crayfish, for us and they are always explaining to you how important it is to only keep the right amount of them each trip.
I believe people who do not stick to their quota, should be fined, as it is like stealing!

  2. Hello Millah,

I like the way you think and agree with you that overfishing is horrible and can be unfair to some people. We definitely do need to try and protect our fish and oceans. If people keep fishing in places that do not allow it, there will be many consequences to their actions. Do you think that $100,000 is too much to have them pay though? $100,000 is a lot of money and you could do so much and buy so many things with that amount of money!

It's wonderful to see that you and mum have been having discussions around this topic! I'm glad to know that you were able to find out more about Fishery Officers and the importance of their jobs. Fishery officers gather information about the fishing industry and create fisheries laws to make sure that we can control and monitor the life in our waters. It's great to see you learning so much and asking questions!

    Best,
    Evelyn :)
