Poppy Art
This week we had to draw poppies on sumo paint for the soldiers
on Saturday. We also had to add 'Lest we Forget' on it somewhere.
I really like doing this because I like drawing and it's a sign of
respect to the soldiers who put there life to risk for us.
Maths DLO - Estimations
WALT: Use algorithms to solve additive problems
with whole numbers and make sensible estimates
and use a calculator efficiently.
I found this task kind of fun because we had to
explain 1 thing we learn't this week. I would
give this activity a 6/10
My Special Place Writing - The campervan
WALT: Visualise and describe an experience by showing not telling
For this task we had to write a story about your special place. I choose
the families campervan.
I liked this task because you can tell but not show your special place to
others. I also like this task because you had to use the scenes. I would
give this task a 9/10
Antarctica Field Trip - Reading
For this task we had to find photos of Antarctica and pretend we went there.
I found this activity really fun because you could have fun and pretended you
went there. I also like this task because you could do something different from
the other people in the class and put your taste on it.
3 fun facts I leaned while doing the reading/writing task this week, 1. The
temperature can get down to -51 C, 2. 12 nations have signed the treaty of
Antarctica, 3. Antarctica is bigger than Europe and almost double the
size of Australia.

Hide and Seek - Poem
Here is my Hide and Seek poem I wrote. There is an animation
down below about this poem. Hope you like my poem.
down below about this poem. Hope you like my poem.
3...2...1 Here I come!,
Ssssshhhh! She’s coming!
Climbing into the empty spa trying not to make a single noise
Slipping and bruising my arm
Closing the lid without a creak
Lying flat down on the hard seats
Below the lid in the empty abandoned spa
Watchful not to bump our heads
Not giving away where we are hiding
Trying our hardest to be mute but we get the giggles
Holding our breaths
The weak smell of chlorine creeping up my nose
Can’t even see a glimpse of my hiding buddies
Only pitch black all around us
But can feel their chilly skin up against mine
Hearing their heavy breathing in my ear
Can’t move anywhere
Getting worst cramp in my leg every second
Hearing Nana’s footsteps coming towards us
Starting to feel claustrophobic
Breathing heavier
Hoping Nana will look under the lid
Grateful to have hiding buddies
“Hurry up”
Panicked she has gone inside
Falling off the seat into the cool puddles on the bottom
SPLASH!
Now getting wetter and colder
Getting the giggles
Noisier and Noisier
Nana overhears us giggling
Opens the cover
“Found you”
“Finally” I reply

Maths DLO - Maths Create [Wed and Thu]
WALT: Use and explain a range of mental strategies for solving
addition and subtraction problems.
I liked doing this strategy to work out problems. I didn't like doing
the doubles strategy, because it was tricky to solve the problems using it.

WALT: Visualise and describe an experience by showing not telling
I found this activity fun but time consuming. I enjoyed putting in lots
of detail to match what Nana's house looks like.

Hide and Seek - Favourite bit of the poem - Create [Wednesday and Thursday]
WALT: To identify how authors use descriptive and figurative language to convey a message
I found this task easy but I didn't like recording myself because I don't like the sound of my voice on it. I found it easy to find a image to match the lines in the poem. Here is my video of me reading my favourite bit of the Hide and Seek poem. Hope you enjoy. Here is a link to the poem [CLICK HERE]

Sticks and Stones - Author Purpose
Author Purpose
Task: Pretend you are the author of
this book and explain why you chose this title.
What message is this book trying to teach us?
this book and explain why you chose this title.
What message is this book trying to teach us?
I chose this title because I wanted
to prove the saying (Sticks and stones may
break my bones but words will never hurt me mean) wrong.
You can get hurt by what people
say to you or about you. For example,
the words that people call Elyse appear
and hurt her. Words can hurt you on the
outside (like Elyse) and on the inside. I also
wanted to teach people that it is not okay to
call people mean/nasty names or words. It can
really hurt someone. You might not see that
they are hurt but on the inside they are hurting.
That is why I called this book ‘Sticks and Stones’
to prove this saying wrong.
